Vila Real de Santo António, the Enlightenment city.
Situated between the Guadiana River and the Atlantic Ocean, amid pine forests and salt flats, it witnessed the rise of the canning industry, which was based on tuna fishing.
A city situated on the riverbank at the edge of the Algarve.
It was built according to a pre-designed plan, featuring a regular, geometrically proportioned urban grid defined by rectangular and square city blocks.
Between the green surroundings and the sea horizon.
Located in Cascais, near Quinta da Marinha, with all its green surroundings and its proximity to the Guincho beaches, this project of 2 houses intends to optimize the interconnection of the interior spaces as well as the relationship of each one of them with the outside surroundings.

The current architecture is characterized by two-story buildings in Praça Real and Baixa-mar.

It is in this context that CASAS DA VILLA was born—a project consisting of three two-bedroom homes, each comprising a ground floor and two additional stories, featuring simple, straight lines that have now been modernized, fully integrated, and designed in accordance with the city’s urban plan.

The entrance to each of these villas is through an entryway that opens onto the living room and the kitchen, which is integrated into the living room.
The living room opens onto the patio through a double-glazed opening, allowing natural light and ventilation to enter, as well as serving as an extension of the covered living area to the outdoors.
The staircase that connects the ground floor to the upper floors begins in the living room.
The patio serves as an extension of the living room, providing a shaded living area with natural ventilation.
The first floor houses the most private area of the house: two bedrooms, bathrooms and a built-in storage area off the hallway.

On the second floor—the top floor, which is set back except for the stairwell—there is a living room that opens onto the rooftop terrace, providing an outdoor living area with greater sun exposure and thus creating a contrast between the sunny outdoor spaces on this floor and the shaded areas on the ground floor.
The staircase ends in an antechamber that connects to the living room and the rooftop terrace (outdoors); in this space, a large opening was created that offers an unobstructed view of the surrounding houses and the historic district of Vila Real de Santo António.
